Case# 23-073420
On 09/20/2023, Officer Christensen was dispatched for a report of an elderly female in a wheelchair
who was allegedly dropped off at the location and had nowhere to stay for the night.
The female was contacted, she was soaking wet as she had slept on the streets last night when it had
rained. She was currently homeless accompanied by her small dog. She had nowhere to stay for the
night and had no family in the area to care for her other than her son who was currently in jail and also
homeless.
Officer Christensen contacted the Mission in Pasco and was informed the women’s shelter was at
maximum capacity and they do not accept animals. Officer contacted HRC who could assist on housing
for the female but not until the next day. Officer Christensen provided the female with contact
information for HRC.
Officer Christensen asked the female what her plan were for the night to which she stated she would
likely sleep on the streets again until the morning. Due to the female being elderly, soaking wet,
homeless and not having anyone to care for her the decision was made to purchase a one night stay at
Kennewick Suites (321 N Johnson St) for her to sleep utilizing the community care fund.
Officer Christensen provided a courtesy transport to Kennewick Suites where a room was purchased for
the night.
