On August 22, 2023, Officers were dispatched to a W 15 th Place address for a weapons complaint call.
While officers were on scene, they developed probable cause to arrest a male for assault in the 2 nd
degree as he had threatened family members with a machete. While officers were speaking to family,
he had barricaded himself inside the residence. Given the situation the Tri City Regional SWAT team was
called in. Due to the tactics used by the SWAT team the residence became inhabitable leaving ten
household members (6 adults and 4 children) without housing. Using the community care fund two
rooms were purchased for three nights at the Red Lion (1101 N Columbia Center Blvd).
