September 12, 2024September 10, 2024, Officer Moreno was dispatched to assist at Trios Hospital. Upon arrival, he made contact with the reporting party, a nurse reported that there was a female patient, who was awaiting discharge from the hospital. The female is approximately 30 weeks pregnant and has two children: a 4-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl. The nurse explained that the female had been involved in domestic incidents and did not want to return home, fearing the situation would escalate. Additionally, she had no family in the area to support her. Officer spoke with the female, who explained that she was currently homeless after leaving her residence in Finley for her safety. She disclosed that her ex-boyfriend had previously been arrested for assault DV, and she feared that further arguments could become violent. She described how she had left the house with her two children on foot and was later picked up by her father-in-law, who dropped her off at Trios Hospital due to contractions. Upon observation, Officer Moreno noted that her children appeared dirty, and her 4-year-old son was not wearing a shirt. When inquired about whether they had clothes for the night, she explained that all of their clothing was left behind at her house in Finley, and she had no means of transportation to retrieve them. She further explained that she had exhausted all available resources. She had contacted the domestic violence women’s shelter, but they were at full capacity. She also reiterated that she had no local family members who could assist her. Given her situation and her lack of clothing or financial means for her children, Officer Moreno took the initiative to go to Walmart and purchased clothing for her children and a $100 gift card for food. Officer Moreno transported her and her children to Clover Island, where he paid for three nights stay.
