On 8/18/22 Officer Castilleja responded to a burglary in progress in the 2200-block of Palouse Street. The homeowner, 63- year old male,called 911frantic for help asking police to please hurry because an unknown male was in the process of kicking in his door. The male’s four children, ages 7, 12, 14, and 19 were in the home and preparing to hide in the bathroom due to the suspect kicking in the door. The children andthe male tried to barricade the door to prevent the suspect from entering their home. The suspect began hitting the door with a shovel and brokea window on the side of the residence. The suspect later returned to the door and kicked the door in, causing the doorframe to break. Policearrived and took the suspect into custody, but male told officers he was now going to have to pay for a new doorframe. The male told Officer Castilleja he lives off his disability and has to provide for his children. The male advised he would likely not be able to properly repair the door forseveral weeks until his next disability check. Northwest Restoration was contacted to repair the door for the male and his family so they could properly secure the door.
