On 06/05/2022 Officer Duty responded to a call where a male’s small dog, a Chihuahua/pitbull mix named “Baby”, was struck by a car. Theinjuries were treatable but needed medical attention. The male did not have the means for the full vet bill. The dog was treated at a local vet,and the Community Care fund was used to settle the vet bill and additionally purchase basic dog supplies and food. The male told the officerthat his family does not have a good name with local law enforcement. There is long history of criminal activity with that family. He expressed that he would never had thought he’d be treated so kindly by KPD and expressed his heart felt appreciation. The dog was treated, bandaged up,and sent home with the male.
