On March 2, 2022 Officer Ramos was dispatched to an assist at the Circle K on Washington
Street. He contacted the reporting party, 70 year old female and her dog, who advised she had found
herself in a housing predicament. It was raining and the female and her dog were cold and wet. She told
Officer Ramos that she moved her from San Francisco, CA when a friend promised her housing here
Kennewick. When she arrived here that was not the case and she became homeless. She advised she
had contacted Section 8 housing but was told there’s was a three (3) year waiting period. She has been
told she does not meet the criteria by Union Gospel Mission and they would not take her in with her
dog. Female relies on her minimal social security check. She had been staying at the Clover Island Inn
but was asked to leave for not paying her full balance. Officer Ramos confirmed with this information
with Clover Island Inn. Officer Ramos provided her with a two (2) night stay at another hotel. A citizen
called the KPD and donated money to cover another night stay for the female and her dog. The citizen
also stated that she was going to the hotel to look for the female to offer her food for her dog.
