On July 29, 2019 officers responded to a welfare check at a local hotel on a female who was
being asked to leave because she was past her check out time. Female did not have any family
or friends in the area. She had exhausted all of the medical resources in the Tri-Cities area and
was unable to be placed into a mental health facility due to her extreme medical issues. She
said she was from Spokane and she had spoken to her granddaughter who would could not
come pick her up but would pick her up at the bus station in Spokane. She had lost her
identification and had no money to purchase a bus ticket. A good Samaritan had offer to drive
her to the bus. The officer and the mental health professional decided that best way to assist
her was to help her return to Spokane where she had family and friends to help her with her
mental and physical health issues. Funds were used to purchase a bus ticket and a ride to the
bus station was provided by the officer.
