On June 18, 2019 officers were dispatched to do a welfare check on a male, female and an
infant in the area of Walmart. The reporting party advised there was a male and female with a
small infant holding a sign on the corner asking for money for hotel and gas. Officers contacted
the couple who were very cooperative, polite and respectful. Both identified themselves with
identifications. They told officers they came to the Tri-Cities from Seattle with the promise of
work in construction. The male was unable to find work and ran out of funds. They told officers
they needed money to pay for a hotel for the night and gas to leave in the morning. They had
collected $80 dollars. With the weather being in the high 80’s and the welfare of the child,
officers offered to pay for the night at the hotel. They were very grateful and said the money
they had collected would be enough for food and gas to leave in them morning.
