Community Care Cases

On August 27, 2018 Officer Melone responded to a call from the Port of Kennewick at the Mini
Golf Course. A Port of Kennewick employee was concern about a transient camp and a vehicle
in the parking lot. Upon arrival Officer Melone contacted a male, female and 3 year old son.
They advised that they were currently homeless and waiting for housing. They were on their
way to Hood Park to camp for a couple of days while waiting for housing when their car broke
down. They were able to pull into the parking lot at the location. The fuel pump on the car was
out and they had to order the part and it would be in the next day. They asked if they camp out
at the location for one more night. Officer Melone made arrangement for them to stay at
Clover Island for two nights. They were also given a $50 gift card for food.
