December 16, 2024 Officer Harris while working as a uniformed school resource officer at Highlands Middle School, was contacted by a school counselor reference a family in need of propane gas for their RV. The counselor advised she had been working with the father in getting resources for his family as they currently are homeless and live out his RV. The father has four children, two of whom attend Highlands Middle School. Officer Harris was aware of the father’s current circumstance and have been in contact with him on numerous occasions to provide resources and encouragement for his family during this difficult time. Officer Harris contacted the father by phone and asked him about his current situation. The father explained that he currently uses a tank of propane a week to heat the RV that his family lives in. He said he has been having difficulty paying for the propane which is regularly used to heat his RV due to the cold weather. Officer Harris advised the father that he would set up an account for him at Ferrellgas and apply $200 worth of credit to the account which is provided by Kennewick Police Foundation Community Care Fund. The father was very grateful for the assistance and said that this would provide a huge help for to family.
