An officer was dispatched to an assist call reference use of the Community Care Fund. Dispatch advised that a female as at the station waiting for contact.
She indicated she was on SSI and had been staying at the Loyalty Inn in Pasco but has since ran out of funds. She further advised that her boyfriend, who lives in Winston, OR, was supposed to come pick her up but was unable to do so due to maintenance issues. She openly acknowledged she has been battling addiction with the help of Lourdes Counseling but was proud of her progress in being clean for 90-days. She frustratingly advised that up until 14 days prior she had been staying at the Pasco Mission but was asked to leave after a prescription she had been taking caused a positive result on a urinalysis; which led her to the Loyalty Inn. After CRISIS was able to verify her account, Officers were able to assist her with a one-way bus fare to Roseburg, OR, which was the closest Greyhound Terminal to her boyfriend’s location. The ticket was booked for just a few hours after contact with KPD. This assistance prevented her from becoming transient on the streets in the middle of a snowstorm and further assisted her to getting to a location where further support could be provided.
