On December 23, 2018 officers responded to assault call, 21 year old woman was the victim of
assault – domestic violence. She had no family in the area. She was living with boyfriend’s
mother. After being assaulted the mother asked her to leave. The victim has a job but had
nowhere to go. Four nights at Clover Island Inn were purchased to get her through Christmas.
Upon finishing the booking at the hotel the woman began crying and was appreciative to the
officer that was helping her.

Mid December the Kennewick Police Department was made aware of a dire situation during the
holiday season. A young mother of three and former teacher’s aid has been diagnosed with
terminal brain cancer. Due to her illness she has not been able to work and with limited
resources she has a difficult time providing for her family. The Police Department used funds
from the Police vs Fire charity basketball game and partnered with KPD Foundation and
Kennewick Police Officers Benefit Association to raise funds for the family. The funds were used
to purchase basic needs, pay their electric bill and water bill (both were past due), some
Christmas gifts, and towed their vehicle Platinum Autotech for service.
